THE THIRD FLOOR is the world’s leading visualization company, with offices in Los Angeles and London and teams working on productions around the globe. Since 2004, we’ve partnered with clients to help them plan and explore their stories before filming, using our visual storytelling skills and deep filmmaking knowledge to help directors and studios envision their projects in the earliest stages of production. Founded by artists for artists, The Third Floor is a fun, creative studio where we work on high-profile projects while maintaining a collaborative, small-studio culture. In 2022, we expanded with a dedicated animation department that creates final content for film, episodic, and games. Our work has received multiple Emmy and VES awards, and our clients include Disney, Marvel, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Universal, 20th Century, and many more.
We are looking for a 3D Tracking / Matchmove artist that has experience with workflows covering a variety of different digital cameras and lens packages, both spherical and anamorphic. The candidate should have experience in handling difficult camera photography as well as experience with survey tracking with LIDAR.
Applicants must have an strong knowledge of Maya and PF Track to be considered.
Full Time. * Project based Remote Position. * Must be based in British Columbia. *
Responsibilities:
Use relevant 3D software to work out the co-ordinates and movement of the physical camera and / or objects in a live action shot.
Be able to develop solutions for the tracking of 3D cameras and solve problems that may arise.
Understand Anamorphic Lenses for the creation of undistorting/re-distorting of plates.
Be able to deliver work within established project targets and the high-quality standards of the company.
Support and advise other artists with their tracking tasks.
Essential Skills:
At least 3 year’s production experience working in a photo-real/live-action VFX pipeline; commercial, TV, or feature film experience, preferred.
A thorough understanding of 3D camera principles such as lenses, distortion, parallax etc.
Must be able to track cameras and objects quickly and effectively.
Ability to work under pressure and take direction under tight production schedules while maintaining a high quality of work.\
Experience with Maya, PF Track and After Effects.
Personal attributes:
High level of professionalism, as postvis artists are sometimes on-site with clients in production
Ability to be a self-starter and resourceful
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
The pay scale is between $20 - $70 / hour CAD based on experience, skillset and other factors. We work an average of 5 hours of paid overtime a week. Additional TTF benefits: Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision), Sick Time, 401k (staff only), PTO (staff only), and additional Perks & Benefits.
