The Third Floor is seeking a Senior CG Lighting / Compositing Artist to join our new Animation department. Candidates should have extensive experience utilizing Unreal, a solid understanding of the fundamentals of VFX, Color and Value, and a strong creative eye for lighting design. Additionally, candidates that have experience with stylized work/2d animation experience are highly preferred. Artists are required to work fluidly and efficiently.
Project Based. Full Time. Remote Position. Must be in the state of California, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York (Outside NYC), Colorado, or Canada for remote positions.
Responsibilities:
Create lighting based on key art and direction from the Art Director and Producer
Ensure that lighting design and implementation meets run-time and performance budgeting requirements
Compositing shots.
3D projections, lighting and color grading.
Maintain a high consistent standard of quality and speed.
Working closely with teammates, director, and supervisor.
Work collaboratively with other department personnel especially Environment, Character, and VFX artists
Stay current with industry lighting techniques
Produce & maintain documentation for lighting as it relates to TTF pipeline
Essential Skills:
Extensive experience with Maya
Experience utilizing Unreal 4 (or higher) with basic, precomputed & dynamic lighting
Strong sense of light and shadow
Knowledge of Global Illumination
Basic understanding of Blueprint
Substantial experience compositing in Nuke.
Possess a strong sense of composition, color theory, lighting, perspective, and scale.
Knowledge of roto, paint, tracking, keying, clean-up, and color correction.
Excellent understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG rendering and compositing.
Experience in set extension and matte painting integration.
Maintain a clean and organized Nuke workflow.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Able to take direction and work under tight deadlines.
Photoshop experience
Working knowledge of industry standard rendering concepts and processes
Desirable Skills:
Experience working with Stylized/2D Animation work.
Experience generating light-maps, pre-lighting or baked lighting
Compositing in After Effects is an advantage.
3D tracking software, e.g. PFTrack, 3DEqualiser.
3D Animation software, e.g. Maya, Unreal a benefit.
Scripting in Python is a plus.
Experience with Renderman & Katana is a plus.
The pay scale is between $20 - $70 / hour based on experience, skillset and other factors. We work an average of 5 hours of paid overtime a week. Additional TTF benefits: Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision), Sick Time, 401k (staff only), PTO (staff only), and additional Perks & Benefits.
